I don't really know what this is anymore... sometimes a journal, sometimes a rant, sometimes fiction, sometimes fact, always for myself.

 

The power had been out all day. No one had really noticed, though. In midsummer the only appliance that she used really was her air conditioner and it wasn’t even that hot out. She had gone out that day, took a walk in the park around the corner from her apartment, stopped by her parent’s house for iced tea, watched her nephews while her sister slept. She had come home that night and went to turn on the switch, but caught herself and instead took down the box of candles in her closet, knocking over brooms and dusters in the process. By the dimming light from the windows, she managed to find a box of matches and light a single candle.
